The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools and The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center Hosts the 2nd Annual Wicked Walk

Fort Myers, FL (November 5, 2019) – On Thursday, October 24, 2019, The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools and The Sidney & Berne Davis Arts Center held the 2nd Annual Wicked Walk.  Over 400 students from Cypress Lake High Center for the Arts, Dunbar High, Estero High, Harns Marsh Middle, Lehigh Senior High, Mariner High, North Fort Myers High, South Fort Myers High, Dunbar Middle, Oak Hammock Middle, Trafalgar Middle and Veterans Park Middle participated in this event. Students brought the creepy, kooky, and altogether spooky characters to the Fort Myers community.

This was the largest original collaboration between art teachers in the School District of Lee County. Teachers who participated in The Wicked Walk will receive grant money for their dedication and hard work to put this production togethers for the community.. The turnout for the 2nd Annual Wicked Walk far exceeded expectations. With both online and in-person ticket sales available, attendance for the event was outstanding.

“The creativity and attention to detail was exceptional; Lee County students and teachers put in so much time and effort, it truly was something straight out of a horror film,” said Alexandria, a Lee County resident and volunteer for  The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools.

As you approached the steps of the art center you were welcomed by dancing zombies, singers, and a ghostly band that sent chills down your spine with anticipation to see what was behind the walls of the Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center. The doors were opened and you were greeted by The Addams Family in their Forest, while basking in the glow-in-the-dark moonlight, they proceeded to sing and dance their way to the grave. Room after room, the music rattled your bones as the students performed to classic songs, such as Monster Mash. The Pensively Poe witches kept you cackling the whole time while the noteworthy Done-Before-Dawn Orchestra left you dying for more.

The Wicked Walk brought the art community together to raise awareness and shine a light on how the arts play a vital role in our school system. The proceeds made from this event were split between The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools and The Sidney & Berne Davis Art Center to support art education in Lee County Public Schools.
