McDonald’s Hosts 2020 Golden Apple Finalist Breakfast
The Unveiling of Tray Liners Featuring the 30 Golden Apple Finalists
FORT MYERS, FL (February 19, 2020) – Thirty- One finalists of the Golden Apple Teacher Recognition Program attended a breakfast held in their honor and hosted by McDonald’s on Friday, February 14th. The annual breakfast provided an opportunity for the Golden Apple Major Sponsors and the Golden Apple Selection Committee, along with Lee County School Board members and the Superintendent, to meet and recognize the 2020 Golden Apple Finalists. Finalists’ photos will be featured on local McDonald’s tray liners for several weeks leading up to the Golden Apple Teacher Recognition Banquet on Friday, April 17, 2020 held at the Hyatt Regency at Coconut Point.
McDonald’s, represented by several owners/operators, hosted the breakfast and unveiled the new tray liners to be used in local restaurants. Teachers were treated to breakfast and given an opportunity to network with local business and community leaders and their fellow Golden Apple Finalists.
“This was a record-breaking year with approximately 6,000 nominations received,” says Marshall T. Bower, Esq., President and CEO of The Foundation for Lee County Public Schools. “It is a testament to this community that we recognize outstanding public school teachers in the School District of Lee County. Given the awesome responsibility of educating and guiding our greatest community asset, our children, so they become positive members of our community, I can think of no more important profession than teaching!”
Major Sponsors for the 2020 Golden Apple Teacher Recognition Program include Chico’s FAS, Inc., Lee Health, McDonald’s, The News-Press Media Group, NBC2, Suncoast Credit Union, Suffolk Cares and Wells Fargo.
